Marianne fromĀ Haven and Home featured a post on what she is reading right now. Being really nosy (obviously, this is why I read blogs) and being someone whose favorite thing to do is read, I love getting new book recommendations!
I am reading some fluffy chick lit, as well as a nonfiction book about homemade organic dog treats (not sure if I will go that far, but worth looking into), but the book on my heart right now is Searching for God Knows What by Donald Miller.
If you would, I would appreciate prayers for my family and I this week. I am feeling challenged on several fronts. This book is so comforting because it brings me back to what my faith is all about, and I crave that reminder:
“…I started reading the Bible very differently….When I did that, I realized the gospel of Jesus, I mean the essence of God’s message to mankind, wasn’t a bunch of hoops we needed to jump through to get saved, and it wasn’t a series of ideas we had to agree with either; rather, it was an invitation, an invitation to know God….I bring this up only because life is complex, and the idea that you can break it down or fit it in a few steps is rather silly.
The truth is there are a million steps, and we don’t even know what the steps are, and worse, at any given moment we may not be willing or even able to take them; and still worse, they are different for you and me and they are always changing. I have come to believe the sooner we find this truth beautiful, the sooner we will fall in love with the God who keeps shaking things up, keeps changing the path, keeps rocking the boat to test our faith in Him, teaching us to not rely on easy answers, bullet points, magic mantras, or genies in lamps, but rather in His guidance, His existence, His mercy, and His love.“
Wishing you encouragement today!

i am praying for you and your family. everything ok? hugs to you friend.
