Giveaway After My Own Heart

I’m so happy to introduce this giveaway today! Those of you new to el blog or who don’t actually know Shawn and I in real life may not know that Shawn used to be in the military. It was, and still is, a huge part of his life. We went through a deployment together before we were engaged, and after we were married we spent 5 days in St. Lucia (gaining weight due to the all-inclusive yum-ness) and then went straight to Germany for a year where Shawn was stationed. It was a beautiful country and though it was tough for me, moving so far away, our first year of marriage was filled with explorations and traveling and amazing food (oh hello, schnitzel and spaetzle) and so much sweet time for the two of us.

Our first year was also memorable because we met friends Rich and Casey! Casey is now the founder of Hand Stamped Jewelry and Countdown Necklaces by Casey. She wanted to create something to help her count down her husband’s deployments by the weeks and eventually, the days. Those military wives are so creative ;) Here are her countdown necklaces:

You have to admire Casey’s process. She oxidizes the charms using hard boiled eggs so there are no harsh chemicals in her home or in the environment. Here is one of her custom hand stamped charm necklaces:

If you’re not in the military, these can still be for you! The countdown necklaces would be great to count down to a wedding, the birth of a baby, or even a big vacation or finishing up grad school. The charm necklaces can also be personalized with different motifs and words, making it easy to commemorate pretty much anything.

So, the winner of this giveaway will win their choice of either a custom charm necklace or 50% off the price of a custom countdown necklace! Charm necklaces can be any combination of silver and copper: i.e. silver on the outside/copper in the middle, copper on the outside/silver in the middle, silver on the outside/silver in the middle, and copper on the outside/copper in the middle. The outside can be personalized with your choice of words given the space constraints, and the inside can also be personalized with initials, one larger letter, a heart, a cross, a clover leaf, a fleur de lis, and some other motif options. Casey will work with the winner to create a custom piece!
