Have you all heard of Mat Kearney? He is one of our favorite artists – I think first made famous (to us, anyway) when a few of his songs were featured on Grey’s Anatomy. (If you’re new to Mat, some favorites to download – Undeniable, All I Need, Hey Mama, Ships in the Night, Closer to Love…oh the list goes on.)
I would like to consider myself a bit of a groupie because we’ve been to three or four of his shows now. At the risk of sounding creepy, he feels like ours. He’s also the kind of artist who performs in smaller venues, standing room only, and so the resulting experience is that you’re super close throughout the show.
That also means that sometimes you get to meet Mat Kearney. Here’s the first time, with our friends Shawn and Ben and the lovely Ingrid Michaelson.
The second time was this past weekend. Here I am camping outside of the tour bus (tell me I have groupie status now!) on that day in October that it decided to snow.

And here is the ultimate prize. Shawn and Ben could not join us, so I solicited Mat for a video congratulating them on their recent engagement.

Wow. That is cool! :) I have heard of Mat, now I’m going to look up some of his music. I am dying to meet Jimmy Buffett face to face. I know, that may sound goofy, but we’ve been to a ton of his concerts and I just love him. I don’t think I’ve met any celebrities in person, but I was about 4 feet from Adrian Grenier in the Las Vegas airport, and about the same distance from the lead singer of Train on the streets in Waikiki. Both of those were thrilling!
